Get involved with San Antonio Gaelic Athletic Club

Whether you’re looking to get fit, make new friends, or get in touch with your inner Irish footballer, you’ve come to the right place.

Best described as a mix of soccer, rugby and basketball, the sport features some of the most exciting and competitive aspects of those sports. Even if you’re new to it, any background with classic American sports (such as football & basketball) will put you right on track to pick up Gaelic Football.

Gaelic Football is a fast paced game played in two 30 minute halves with 15 players a side. The game is generally played on a pitch longer and wider than a soccer field. On each end of the pitch is a goal similar to soccer’s but with the added feature of uprights that you’d see on a rugby pitch. A score on goal is worth 3 points, while a shot through the uprights is worth 1.
